Re-Listening to Fourth Wing

So, I have this new theory about Jack Barlow.  So, it seems more than a coincidence that he was the person right behind Violet.  What if some of those guards at General Sorrengail's office report to Colonel Aetos? (or was he a Major?  I forget) and were told to let him know what the General does in regard to her youngest child, Violet.  I mean, he must have had some inkling that Lilith must have suspected him of some kind of duplicity, but had no proof and was playing the long game.  So, while it was expected for Violet to go into the Scribes Quadrant, he had to suspect that she might throw Violet into the Riders Quadrant and planned ahead just in case.   Jack Barlow could have been someone he and his associates were grooming to become an initiate at some later point, and assigned Violet as his task. Perhaps he had Violet pointed out at some point so that he'd follow her to accomplish his task, which might have been to find the information her fa...

So I wanted something to look at without the temptations of the chapters.  I really think there could be some clues overall here. Fourth Wing The following text has been faithfully transcribed from Navarrian into the modern language by Jesinia Neilwart, Curator of the Scribe Quadrant at Basgiath War College. All events are true, and names have been preserved to honor the courage of those fallen. May their souls be commended to Malek. Chapter One A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead. —Article One, Section One The Dragon Rider’s Codex Chapter Two There’s a misconception that it’s kill or be killed in the Riders Quadrant. Riders, as a whole, aren’t out to assassinate other cadets…unless there’s a shortage of dragons that year or a cadet is a liability to their wing. Then things may get…interesting. —Major Afendra’s Guide to the Riders Quadrant (Unauthorized Edition) Chapter Three Blue dragons descend from the extraordinary Gormfaileas li...

It was never our continent. From the very beginning, it was theirs, and we were simply allowed to live here. —The Journal of Warrick of Luceras —Translated by Cadet Violet Sorrengail - Iron Flame Page  731, beginning of chapter 56 (Kindle Cloud Reader version) by Rebecca Yarros (The Empyrean Series) AI Overview In Rebecca Yarros's fantasy series,  The Empyrean , the traditional and ancestral hatching grounds for dragons are located in several distinct regions. The Empyrean is the term for the unified dragonkind within this world.   Hatching grounds in Navarre The Vale (Steelridge Range):  After the Great War and the Unification, the dragons designated this sacred valley behind Basgiath War College as their primary communal hatching ground. This is the ancestral ground of the green dragons of the Uaineloidsig line, which they gave up for the good of all dragons. Eggs and young dragons are protected here until they are mature enough to fend for themselves. The v...
